What is Literary Criticism?

Literary Criticism is the analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of literary works.  Literary works are anything from poems to short stories to plays to books.  Literary Criticism usually takes the form of a long essay that is originally published in a scholarly journal.  A literary criticism can discuss one piece of work, one author, or several works by one or more authors.  When writing research papers about literature, including literary criticisms as sources is absolutely essential.

Where Can I Find Literary Criticism?

Literary criticism can be difficult to find.  For the most part, literary criticisms cannot be found on the internet for free.  Using the library's resources will be necessary to find literary criticisms.  There are several databases, the most notable of which is the Gale Literary Series, that contain literary criticisms.
