Welcome to the Library!

Welcome to Neumann University Library! There are a number of reasons why the Library will be an important part of your time at Neumann. We can provide you assistance with research, materials for resources, a space to do your work, and place to print your papers and much more. In your ENG 101 Library session, you will be introduced to the library and shown how and why you should use OUR resources to find YOUR sources.

Remember, the information may be online, but you still must learn the process of doing research...and that's where we come in!

Research Assignment

In ENG 101 classes in Fall semester 2011, students will be writing a paper that explores the topic of cell phone use and civility.

While the overall topic has been chosen for you, you must decide what you want to write about this topic.

  • Doing some background research can help you explore the different ways to approach this topic. Think of a question you could ask about this topic or a point you would like to prove.
  • Once you have decided on a probing question or statement, pick keywords that you will use in searching for resources about this topic.
  • Once you have keywords, you can use those keywords to search in a library database. You can find resources to support your idea or answer your question.
  • You can write your paper using your ideas as well as ideas from the resources you found.

These steps make up the research process. This process should be worked through each time you have a paper to write or an assignment to complete. This guide can help walk you through this process in more detail
